Description
What a great gift this lovely pair of antique British/English Victorian Silverplate Napkin Rings will make for that Anglophile, Napkin Ring, and /or Silver Plate collector in your life! Straight out of a table setting from Downton Abbey - each exceptional hexagonal ring measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Two sides are plain, while four sides on each ring display an ornately engraved cartouche. On one each of the plain panels is engraved a “3” and a “4”, respectively. Perfect for that 34th or 43rd birthday or anniversary!! This may suggest the rings were used in a fine dining establishment of the period. Neither ring is marked as to maker, etc. The rings are set in the original domed, treasure chest-shaped box measuring 5 1/2 inches in length x 2 1/2 inches in height. The box is lined with silk and velvet in stunning condition. The silk lining inside the lid is marked in gold lettering “HALL & Co./SILVERSMITHS/MANCHESTER.” Not much information could be found on the firm - although they were in business in Manchester at least by ca. 1860. Condition of the rings is excellent! The box is slightly worn condition, base velvet lining only somewhat detached from box but easily fixed if you deem it necessary. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
