Description
Herne's Divination OracleHerne is the name for the Horned Lord. A variation of
the name Herne is Cerne, which is equivalent to the name Cernunnos or Kernunnos.
The root "cern" or "corn" comes from Latin and means horn, as can be seen from
the words for horn in Latin-based languages: "Il Corno" in Italian, "La Corne"
in French: and "El Cuerno" in Spanish. Some English words with this root are
"cornucopica," "unicorn'" and "cornet." Herne is a pan-European deity. He is
worshiped throughout many countries in many forms. In the British Isles he is
commonly portrayed with stag horns. He is also often depicted with bull horns.
In Craft mythology he is present in both forms. Herne is also associated with
the wild hunt. There are Celtic legends that speak of a spectral horned man,
known as the Master of the Hunt, who led a pack of ghostly dogs across the
English countryside. When the hunt passed through the land, the howling dogs and
the hunting horn of the Master were said to be heard for miles around. Herne as
the Horned God is also the ruler of the underworld, the Guide of Souls. This
oracle is a very simple one. It involves casting tow stones onto the image of
the god Herne himself, comprised of many different symbols. Herne's Divination
Oracleis good for both predicting the outcome of events as well as obtaining
advice about what course of action you should take regarding a particular
problem. Your oracle will come with a framed copy of my original artwork - size
approximately 11" X 14" (frame style will vary depending on what is available),
printed instructions, and two casting stones, one black Shadow Stone and one
white Light Stone.
