    Description

Anna Held (1865-1918) - Born in Warsaw, Poland and moved to Paris in 1881 due to anti-Semitism. Famous for her bawdy songs and showing her legs, she was discovered by Ziegfeld and the two of them became lovers.
She died at age 46 of Multiple Myeloma (plasma cancer). Her daughter created a museum dedicated to her mother in San Jacinto, CA and tragically it was robbed! Fortunately, this label was not in San Jacinto but in the private collection of George Schlegel III who produced most of the vanity labels for famous actors and even kept a collection of their signed permission slips. Featured on page 68 of “Labeling America” by John Grossman. Includes certificate of authenticity. Refer to scans for condition. Approximate size: 6” x 8”.
